Problem: When opening a newspaper today there is a good chance that the headlines have something to do with recent developments in the global climate debate. This development is forcing companies to take action. The problem for many companies, including Thule, is that they are unaware of the environmental work conducted throughout their value chain and also what they need to do to become green. Thule, a company with a strong focus on profitability and growth, will not make environmental issues a part of their core strategy unless it can be shown that economic incentives exist. With this thesis we will try to build a case that will help Thule, and also other companies, see the possibilities a green venture brings with it.

Abstract: The world in which companies are acting today offers challenges in the sense that it is rapidly changing and that a vast amount of information is available. In order to ensure the competitiveness and survival of the company, an effective and efficient environmental scanning is essential to the company. Our aim with this Master's thesis is to investigate what factors constitutes important and basic conditions in a well functioning environmental scanning and how companies strategically can go about to achieve this. In order to highlight and specify how these factors can be applied on a specific company Thule has been our focal point. Thule.

The project has been performed in collaboration with Thule Sweden AB, a global leader in developing safe, simple and elegant solutions for the transportation of various types of equipment. The company has developed a new T-track which is telescopically, they stand mount system to connect the roof box to the roof rack does not fit into this. Therefore, the company considered that it was necessary to have a new product that meets the requirements of the new roof rack. They wanted a new, smarter solution would be developed. The bulk of this essay has been to find a new concept to connect the roof box to the roof racks. This report is a bachelor thesis work within the field of Product Development and is also an assignment for Thule Sweden. The work has been performed by Niclas Tjäderborn and Christian Holm, students at the Mechanical Engineering Program with major in Product Development and Industrial Design at Jönköping School of Engineering during spring the semester of 2009.The thesis work concerned the development of a new wheel holder for bike carrier for Thule Sweden. The background to the project was that the initiator wanted a more user friendly wheel holder with better design than those available on the market. The wheel holder is able to be implemented on one or several of Thule?s current wheel holders.

Syfte: Syftet är att belysa hur ett belöningssystem lämpligen bör utformas så att önskade effekter uppnås. För undersökningen använder vi fallföretaget Thule. Metod: En abduktiv ansats väljs för arbetets förhållningssätt till arbetsprocessen, medan en kvalitativ fallstudie anslår riktlinjer för empiriinsamlingen. Teoretiska perspektiv: Vi använder teoretiska kriterier för utformning av belöningssystem från forskare på området, Merchant och Thompson & Strickland. Empiri: Vårt empiriska material består av besöksintervjuer med koncernledningen samt med personer från divisionsledningen i fallföretaget Thule.

Uppgiften som detta examensarbete går ut på är att utveckla en ny steghållare som ska ingå i Thules produktserie Professional. Det är önskvärt att kunna lasta stegen bakifrån och möjliggöra lastning från marken även på högre skåpbilar. Steghållaren ska framförallt vara anpassad till yrkesmän, såsom hantverkare, målare, etc. Därför söker Thule en robust, säker och lättmanövrerad steghållare med attraktivt utseende. Steghållaren ska minska den tid det tar att lasta på och av stegen.

På uppdrag av Thule Möbler utformades ett designförslag utifrån deras nuvarande katalog. Syftet var att ur ett informationsdesignperspektiv utveckla deras produktkatalog så att användarna lättare skulle kunna hitta i katalogen.Den här rapporten beskriver hela processen från idé till färdigt designförslag.Med hjälp av analyser, enkäter och intervjuer har material tagits fram som sedan testats på målgruppen genom utprovningar.Utifrån resultaten utformades ett designförslag som var anpassat till användarna och som förmedlade ett budskap om Thule Möbler, dess historia och produkter genom en enhetlig grafisk form som finns som en röd tråd genom hela katalogen.Enhetligheten skapas genom en tydlig linjering som stärker igenkänningen hos användaren, genomgående marginaler samt tydligheten mellan ordens, bildernas och den grafiska formens samspel till varandra..

Thule Sweden AB utvecklar, tillverkar och marknadsför kompletta och funktionella lasthållarsystem för bilar. De erbjuder en mycket stor bredd av olika lasthållare till över 1500 bilmodeller. De tillverkar lasthållare som cykelhållare, boxar, skidhållare, hållare för vattensport och andra tillbehör. För att en bil skall kunna bära en takbox måste det tillverkas en lasthållare som placeras mellan biltaket och takboxen. En del i denna lasthållare kallas för takbleck och dess form tas fram med en speciell takskanner vilken analyserar biltakets form vid kanterna.Till detta har en mjukvara tagits fram som Thule kan använda för att söka/lägga till/redigera takbleck, istället för att manuellt söka i en pärm bland 700 olika ritningar.

Tre studenter med två olika inriktningar har tillsammans utfört ett examensarbete.Arbetet är ett led i ingenjörsutbildningen på Jönköpings tekniska högskola påprogrammen Industriell organisation och ekonomi, med inriktning logistik ochledning och Maskinteknik med inriktning industriell ekonomi och produktion.Detta examensarbete har bedrivits på Thules anläggning Hillerstrop. Thule är idag ettvärldsledande bolag som erbjuder transportlösningar för bilen på ett säkert, enkelt ochelegant sätt (Thule 2007).Arbetets inriktning har varit att analysera och implementera ett fullt fungerandelagersystem för ett av Thules mellanlager med en kapacitet på 2268 lagerplatser. Idetta lager lagerförs etiketter och monteringsanvisningar. Dessa två artikelgrupper ärviktiga för Thules materialhantering, då de två artikelgrupperna på ett eller annat sättingår i varje slutprodukt som skickas ifrån Thules fabrik i Hillerstorp.Problemet som Thule hade med materialhanteringen vid mellanlagret var attlagerpersonalen hade svårigheter med att lokalisera de artiklar somproduktionsgrupperna behövde. Detta berodde i grunden på otillräckligt märktalagerplatser och bristande information om vad lagret innehöll.Analysen som examensgruppen har bedrivit innehöll en jämförelse mellan fyra olikalagerhanteringssystem.

Conclusions: A myriad of interpretations are possible when studying and discussing a particular organizational culture. As culture can not be removed from its context, we illuminate the effects that the internationalization process has with regards to unifying the organizational culture in our particular setting studied. Maintaining however, that a reflexive look at this culture shows no single interpretation as being sufficient, we try to expose its richness and ambiguities through a three perspective approach..

Hur kan två automatiserade monteringslinor effektiviseras för att öka antalet färdigmonterade produkter i timmen? Denna fråga ställdes inledandevis vid utformningen av detta examensarbete, som är gjort i samarbete med företaget Thule Sweden AB (Thule). Bakgrunden till detta examensarbete är att Thule anser att två av deras monteringslinor inte når sin fulla kapacitet. Utifrån bakgrunden kom syftet att öka antalet färdigmonterade produkter per timme för respektive monteringslina. För att besvara syftet formulerades tre frågeställningar; Hur kan monteringstakten öka genom kortare upptäcktstider vid larm? Vilka rutiner kan implementeras för att skapa förutsättningar till ökad monteringstakt? Finns det möjlighet till ytterligare ökad monteringstakt? För de båda linorna finns ett mål uppsatt om hur många paketerade kartonger (fyra produkter per kartong) som ska göras i timmen, 90 respektive 100 stycken.För att besvarar frågeställningarna och på så vis uppfylla arbetets syfte har datainsamling i form av tidsstudier, observationer och samtal genomförts.

This one-year master's thesis investigates the late part of the Middle Neolithic on the island of Gotland. This thesis has been written without the influence of a singular theoretical pespective, and has therefore seen input from the processual, and postprocessual theories. By using several perspectives, an attempt is made to view the material remains used in the most objective manner possible. The specific aim of this thesis is to investigate whether the Mid-Neolithic inhabitants of Gotland were a part of the Corded Ware culture (or as it is called in Sweden, the Battleaxe culture or the Boataxe culture). Most recent literature has concluded that Gotland was never a part of the Battlexe culture, though this thesis has discovered many parallels with the mainland culture, including the production of similar objects and ritual practices.

The aim of this essay is to study how the Sami are presented in four textbooks about religion and history that are used in the schools of the majority culture of Sweden today and one book of ideas asto how a textbook could look like from a Sami's perspective. Its aim is not only to study how the Sami are presented but also to discuss how students who read these books could interpret what it means to be a Sami and what their culture is about. It is also meant to discuss how the Sami identitycould be formed. In order to be able to discuss this the essay uses three different kinds of theories about identity and culture. The analysis showed that there is little information about Sami culture, identity, religion and historypresented in the four textbooks used in schools of the majority culture and that these books seem to want students to think that the Sami are troublemakers but are and should be assimilated into the majority culture..
